Native Hawaiian Forest Restoration and Rehabilitation

By joining forces with our sister company, Forest Solutions, we are able to provide native plants to rehabilitate and restore native Hawaiian forests which have been destroyed over time by invasive species and cattle farming. We have rehabilitated and continue to manage hundreds of thousands of acres on the Big Island for some of its largest land- owners. For this reason we are experts in native Hawaiian seedlings.

Since 2000, NSI has produced seedlings for native Hawaiian ecosystem restoration projects. While propagation procedures for the most common native species are documented, most others are not. NSI performs continuous experimentation that results in improved propagation methods. Today we successfully propagate more than 15 different native Hawaiian species, and are working on many more. Although this process is costly, we feel that this is our contribution to conservation of Hawaiian ecosystems.
